RF thermal therapy

Information on RF thermal therapy

For many years, techniques have been used to shrink the connective tissue by applying heat deep into the skin, thereby tightening the skin. One of the most proven methods here is the use of short waves for targeted, focused heating of the deep dermis.

Further details on RF thermotherapy treatment

Monopolar radiofrequency waves are radiated into the deeper layers of the skin, so that an immediate tightening effect is achieved by heating the collagen fibers there; secondly, the formation of new collagen by connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) is stimulated, which also improves the quality of the skin. Both effects occur after repeated application in such a way that a considerable tightening effect of the skin can also be expected in the longer term (also known as "thermal lifting") - (the term "Thermage" is protected by the manufacturer of a specific device).

This can refine facial contours, improve skin tension throughout the face, improve the so-called "hamster cheeks" on the cheeks and also improve protrusions in the chin area. The eyelids around the eyes can also be tightened and crow's feet reduced.

Finally, skin tightening can also be achieved in the neck and décolleté area as well as in the lower abdomen, inner thighs and inner upper arms.
In order to achieve a profound and long-lasting effect, 5-8 applications should be carried out (depending on the body region).

Before the treatment, the area to be treated is cleaned and possibly treated with an anesthetic cream so that the patient does not experience any unnecessary pain. The Thermage treatment, which is carried out with a special handpiece, then takes 20-60 minutes and does not cause any significant discomfort.

The effect takes effect after 1-2 days, whereby the longer-term success through connective tissue stimulation and regeneration only becomes noticeable after 2-3 weeks.

RF thermal therapy is one method in a wide range of anti-ageing treatments. It often makes sense to combine different methods (Botox, filler, Thermage, peeling) in order to put together a tailor-made concept for the patient to fulfill their wishes based on the anatomical-biological requirements of the skin.
